Thanksgiving Options for Brevard County
Thanksgiving in Brevard County as I remember growing up entailed watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on television while mom made her feast of Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen. Of course, there was always a delicious golden brown moist turkey. She always made the stuffing inside of the bird, and we never died or got sick from it either. Mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, brown and serve rolls, gravy, green beans and corn, sweet iced tea and the absolute best southern pecan pie and apple pie that, as the saying goes in the south, “make you wanna slap yo momma!”
The day would alternate something along the lines of watching football on television, after the morning parade of course, playing football outside with Leftwich, John, my brother Mark and a few other kids from the apartments if they were around and then of course, the meal. Laying on the couch or the floor to watch more football and then of course, eat some more.
Now, that was my house growing up and things are too different today with my own family. There are others however, who do not subscribe to such a traditional celebration of Thanksgiving. Some of course, do not even partake.
Whatever your traditions are and style you enjoy spending this holiday, more power to you! For those who just don’t want the mess, stress and hassle of cooking all morning or day for the yumminess of the meal, there are other options available to you. Some people prefer to have someone else cook a good Thanksgiving meal for them, as well as doing all of the dishes and clean up for after the meal. For those who want to celebrate in this fashion, there are many restaurants who will be open and serving a Thanksgiving Meal.
